For connoisseurs only!

During the trip, our operational scope was central Japan and it was a journey inland.

Japan is a very demanding opponent and you have to be in very good physical condition to keep up with him. A flat road is rare here, because the whole country is covered with mountains. There are a big diference of altitiude with aditional numerous sharp turns and tunnels. These tunnels are not very safe for cyclists, because they are long and there is no shoulder. If we have a fast moving car behind us, it may not have time for rapid braking from around the corner).

An additional factor that worsens travel comfort is the weather. Extreme situations such as terrible heat and monstrous downpour will be our daily bread. Numerous typhoons pass through the Japanese islands and natural disasters are a very common occurrence, so we must be prepared for it.

A good way is a combined journey, i.e. a bicycle plus a train or bus. In Japan, nobody makes problems to take a bike, but it must be packed into a special bag (no problem to buy in Poland).

Bicycles are good to travel around most cities and their surroundings, and then this mode of transport is really useful. The bicycle is a very popular means of transport in Japan, so the right infrastructure for riding exists throughout the country.

To sum up, you have to think solidly about your cycling trip to Japan and measure your skils. However, if we decide to go after many hardships we will definitely have great satisfaction at the finish.
