Incredibly tasty coffee

Vietnamese cuisine is similar to Chinese cuisine due to cultural influences. The flagship dish is the Pho soup and a whole range of pasta and rice with toppings. The Vietnamese, unlike the Chinese, use fish sauce instead of soy sauce, and their cuisine is full of fresh vegetables.

The French occupation left an interesting mark on Vietnamese cuisine. The Vietnamise took over the use of products such as asparagus and tomatoes, puff pastry with filling, coffee and baguettes. Referring to the baguettes, we still remember the delicious sandwiches called Banh MI, with a variety of tasty fillings.

Our biggest culinary discovery in Vietnam was coffee. As we have already mentioned, coffee came together with French colonizers in the nineteenth century and remained in Vietnam for good. Today, Vietnam is the world’s second largest producer and exporter of coffee.

Traditional Vietnamese coffee is brewed in a special infuser and it’s takes about 10 minutes. Coffee is served hot or cold (with ice cubes) with condensed sweet milk. An interesting variation of serving coffee is k egg coffee called cà phê trứng (consists of coffee, egg yolk and condensed milk).
