The Mountain in the fog
Tianmen means mountain, which is a gateway to the heavens, but by Chinese standards is very low (only 1500 meters). Its height compensates by steep gaps with vertical walls, which is used as the main tourist attractions in the form of glass bridges, cable car and very steep stairs.
The very way to get to the top is breathtaking after the French company Poma built the world’s longest roller coaster here in 2005. The section connecting the extreme stations of the cable car (along which 98 carriages travel) is about 7.5 kilometers. Add to this the elevation (1300 meters) we overcome, these numbers are really impressive. Riding alone is not for people with weak nerves and fear of heights … in a wobbling, at a height of about a kilometer wagon time passes extremely slowly.
When we reach the top, we have to overcome several routes around the mountain on the glass terraces. Although we came across a fog that almost made it impossible to see the abyss below us, but the impressions were quite nice. On the terraces you can visit the temples located nearby and go down to the bus station on an extremely steep staircase.
