Zoroastrianism
The ancient religion of fire worshipers was very popular in the Middle East. Fire had a special place in the beliefs of Zoroastrianism, had a magical power, and was able to fulfill the prayers of people praying to it. The hearth with the holy fire was in the center of the temple, and the fire that burned without interruption for 100 years had a particularly miraculous power.
Today, Zoroastrianism is an almost extinct religion worshiped by some minorities in Iran and India, therefore visiting a temple in Surakhani is a real treat. The temple itself was built in the 17th century and performed its duties until the 19th century. Due to the lack of followers, the temple has been abanded and now functions as a museum.
