Jaguar Rescue Center
On the outskirts of Puerto Viejo there is a clinic for wildlife that suffered accidents. All animals in the clinic were brought by people who found them injured. Despite the name (Jaguar Rescue Center), there are few jaguars there and you cannot see them on your trip. This is because the Jaguar section is isolated (they have only one, the same guardian), so that animals do not get used to people and do not seek contact with them after being released.
The main attraction for observation here are sloths, specialy those just born. Unfortunately, are quite a lot accidents involving sloths ( shocked by electricity from the cables they climb and hiten by cars ).
In addition to sloths, a large population of convalescents are monkeys. Monkey recovery is fully planned and has several levels: nursery, kindergarten and school. There, at each level of science, monkeys are taught skills to survive in the wild.
In addition to monkeys and sloths, there are many species of animals at rescue center (e.g. crocodile), which, unfortunately, have mostly suffered from human behavior.
