Delicious monotony
The population of Central America is not among the richest lands, therefore meals are not particularly varied here (which does not mean that they are not tasty). A standard meal (casado) is rice, salad, red beans and meat or fish. Casado in many versions is available at every step and is a basic meal during the day.
In restaurants and bars we can find various fish variations in the form of soups and fried fish. For an appetizer you must order ceviche, which at fish markets is sold in many forms (with various additions).
If we don’t know where to go for a good meal, head to the nearby market. There, we will eat good and cheap local food as we wish.
The Caribbean region is rum’s region, and it is no different in this case. The best-known rum is Flor de Cania (produced since the early 1930s), which has won many international awards.
