A breeze of the orient
At the entrance to the city we passed a monument depicting a great samovar, it did not surprise us at all because it is here in Lenkeran that the best tea in Azerbaijan is grown. Lenkeran is a coastal city of almost 50,000, located on the border with Iran. The history of the city dates back to the Bronze Age and has always been associated with the sea (the etymology of the city’s name comes from Persian: the place where the anchors are raised). It is also easy to get to Baku, night trains depart once a day, late afternoon.
By far the biggest attraction of this city is the bazaar. It occupies several streets and you can probably get everything that humanity can produce to eat. One day is enough for sightseeing and walking around without a goal. The city has a sleepy and lazy atmosphere, so it is ideal for resting after long mountain hikes, you can bask on the beach and find refreshment in the water.
Walking through the bazaar we will notice tea already packed and bearing the company mark, we advise you not to buy it. You should carefully watch the shops where there are sweets, there you can also get real local tea by weight. It is a good gift and the taste of that tee in the autumn evening has no comparison with any other tea.
