Island of the Fog
The island of Lantau is located near the city, so it is ideal for a one-day trip. The hill 934 meters high and is the second highest peak in Hong Kong. We will get there easily by public transport and the journey takes about an hour.
Climbing itself is quite demanding because the slope of the terrain is large here. During our trip the sky was covered with thick fog, which had a minus because we didn’t see the vievs around us but a big plus was that we were shielded from the scorching sun in this way.
The trail ends in the temple at the stupas of the largest sitting buddha statue in the world (Tian Tan Buddha). The statue is 34 meters high and weighs 250 tons, is composed of 202 pieces of bronze and its cost is USD 68 million!
