The Paradise Island

To get to Thailand’s third largest island (280 sq km), it’s best to use the train from Bangkok. Sleeper trains offer relatively comfortable sleep conditions, an affordable price and are a nice variation on travel, because in Asia bus transport dominates.

From the town of Donsak, the rest of the journey we take a ferry, 1.5 hours a very pleasant journey through the azure waters and we reach our longed-for destination – the island of Koh Samui.

The island itself is very beautiful, both when it comes to natural wonders in the form of beautiful beaches and waterfalls as well as architectural wonders in the form of colorful temples in the jungle. The best option to explore the island is to rent a scooter (in every store you will find bottles with gasoline for refueling). We, had our bikes, so we travelling with them, but the high altitudes and very steep climbs (central part of the island) made traveling difficult.

The northeastern part of the island is the most touristic part and there is the most traffic there. We recommend the less frequented corners of the island, where we come across empty beaches, charming small temples and chillout atmosphere.
