Glacier Perito Moreno

The Perito Moreno Glacier is more than an hour’s drive from El Calafate and is one of the 48 glaciers located in the Southern Patagonia ice filed. 250 square kilometers of ice was named after the eminent 19th century explorer of the region – Francisco Moreno. There are viewing platforms in front of the glacier, from which we can see the glacier from different sides. We stared at the over 80-meter wall , from which chunks of ice break off every now and then , with fascination

As an additional attraction, we can buy a boat trip or trek on the glacier itself (up to five hours).

As a curiosity you can cite the fact that the glacier is inhabited! 15mm fly called “the Andes pearl” or “dragon of the patagonia”, feeds on bacteria brought in by the wind.
