Ancient town and mountains
The old town of Dali is a built-up complex surrounded by 4 entrance gates that remember the Ming Dynasty. From the eighth to thirteenth century Dali was the capital of the kingdoms, and the main street Fuxian Lu then served and still fulfills the main link between the north and south gates. Most of the buildings were rebuilt after the earthquake that completely destroyed the city in the 1920s. In the city, as well as in the entire Yunnan province, you can meet many Chinese Islam followers, also in Dali you can try their delicious cuisine.
In addition to the old town, which looks charming (especially at night), an additional attraction is a trip to the surrounding mountains (height is over 3000 meters).
The expedition was spread over two days. Along the way, you pass Chinese cemeteries and temples, and tourist stations (closed). There is snow high in the mountains, you can also experience very violent snowstorms, so the conditions are quite difficult. Setting up a tent because of the strong wind was not the easiest, fortunately we found an abandoned building where you could light a bonfire and spend the night.
Dali will remain in my memory for a long time for one more reason, here I ate the most delicious dumplings in Asia …
