Cruise

The cruise from Quellon to Puerto Chacabuco lasts theoretically around one and a half days. The ticket in small print indicates that the ferry may be delayed due to weather conditions and this is key information. On Chiloe as well as in the entire Patagonia there is always bad weather conditions so the ferry is always late, the question is only how much (we started the cruise five hours late).

Our ship is sailing Ruta Cordilliera and on the way called to the following ports: Melinka – Raúl Marín Balmaceda – Santo Domingo – Melimoyu – Puerto Gala (Isla Toto) – Puerto Cisnes – Puerto Gaviota (Caleta Amparo) – Puerto Aguirre – Puerto Chacabuco. Most of these villages are completely cut off from the world, and the ferry visit them 2 times a week, which is why the ship also had food supplies and other things needed for residents, which were unloaded on land.

The journey by ship itself passes in fairly bearable conditions. All travelers are gathered in one room, where everyone has their own armchair (which is also used for sleeping). The biggest attraction is a walk on the open terrace, where despite the rain and gusty wind you can observe the power of the surrounding nature.
