Next, only the south pole ...
Swept by wind and rain, we got our bikes to one of the goals of our trip … that is, the last land before the South Pole. Looking at the views around us, we really feel that we are at the end of the world. Endless tracts of land with snow-capped mountain tops, dangerous ocean waves and severe weather conditions let us know that we will not go further south. Amid these spartan conditions, there are scattered small villages and towns where people struggle for survival every day. The main cities of the region are Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas. Puerto Natales has definitely more to offer, that’s why we stayed here for 5 days. The city is a good starting point to the surrounding mountains (Torres del Paine National Park) and also for shorter day trips, e.g. to the Mylodon’s cave.
