Asado

If you are Argentineans, means you are perfected the grilling technique in the highest level. Grilling has become an art here, almost a religion … that stands on par with love for football. It is hardly surprising if you have the best beef in the world. Asado is a barbecue technique and a social gathering combined with it. Tradition derives from meetings of Gaucho cowboys, who after a hard day’s work grilled meat on a metal frame on a slow fire. Today, everywhere are organized official barbecue competitions (which are taken extremally seriously), gathering hundreds of participants and observers.

Asado is governed by his laws and orders. The host here is Asador, who deals with the preparation and grilling of meat and plays the most important role this evening. The amount of meat is at least a kilo per participant. Asador ignites the hearth and cares for meat at every step. When meet it’s ready, is served with light salads, bread, chimichurri sauce and of course with wine.

In addition to meat, the passion of the Argentineans is sweets. Breakfast cannot be served without croissants served with coffee, dulce de leche or kilograms of ice cream. One could venture to say that in addition to meat and sweetness, the Argentineans do not eat other foods.
